There is a lot of juggling going on at the beginning of the school year. Many employees may have already settled into their current positions but there still could be some moving around. It is right in the middle of all this hubbub when an employee's assignments can exceed authorized FTE. While some organizations are fine with HR/Payroll users having a simple warning to keep them from assigning more FTE to an employee than has been authorized— in the belief that at the end of the day, the technician will resolve the conflict, other organizations never want an employee to exceed FTE, no matter the circumstances.
That is where the Allow Employee to Exceed Max FTE flag in the Organization record comes in handy!
So, this is the deal.
If you don't want the user to be allowed to exceed the max FTE that is set in the Person Type record, set this flag to NO. The user will be presented with an error and they will be unable to save the assignment unless they reduce the FTE.
Even if this flag is set to YES (allow employee to exceed), the HR/Payroll user will still get a warning so that they can make sure that the additional assignment is indeed authorized.
