Employee Spotlight: Bob Lehman
Like many other Escape employees, Bob Lehman came to Escape from System Integrators. On March 22, 1999, Bob (also known as BobL, pronounced bobbel) joined the staff as a developer, specializing in the Finance module. What is your favorite part of working for Escape? — I really like working with all of the employees here at Escape. They are a smart group with a good sense of humor.
Can you give us a quick play-by-play of your average work day? — Since I am a developer, I work my CR (change request) list. Usually, I start early before everyone else is in the office and continue working on what I was working on the day before. But, after an hour or so, as others come into the office, it is up for grabs. Customer Care very often stops by with questions or who knows what!
What have been some of the highlights of your career at Escape? — That is a hard question. I like reworking things so that they are easier to use. A recent example is the Journal Entry Import changes. Customer Care and customers seemed to really like the way that turned out. (Editor's note: Customer Care actually started calling the Journal Entry Import changes "slick a** programming" because they were so impressed. And now that is a rallying cry when Customer Care wants a developer to think outside the box and come up with something really neat.)
What are your favorite activities or things to do when not working? —I like traveling and bicycling, especially along the American River bike trail. In general, I like being outside, really, anything that is the opposite of sitting in an office.
Where are you from originally? — I am a Sacramento County native, living most of my life in Orangevale.
If you weren’t a developer, what would you be? — Unemployed. Just kidding. I am doing what I want to do. I started college as a chemistry major. When I was in the middle of the first organic chemistry mid-term, I decided that chemistry wasn't really what I wanted to do. So, here I am.
What is your favorite food? — I don't have one favorite. But, any kind of Mexican or BBQ would be considered a favorite.
What is your ringtone? — My phone is on silent almost all the time. I am not sure what the sound is.
If you could meet one person, who and why? — I gave this a lot of thought. Not that it would be possible, but if I could I would want to meet any of my ancestors prior to my grandparents to see if we had anything in common.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? — Probably, it would be to fly like Superman because it would be quicker to get around.
