Employee Spotlight: Terri Hammond
Terri started with Escape in October 1998, at the ripe old age of 10. Terri has 12 years school district experience, working in the business office of two Bay Area school districts. As a past school district employee, she really understands the needs of a district and knows the workflows. Since joining Escape, Terri has worked in both sides of the aisle, Finance and HR/Payroll. As System Trainer, Terri loves to share knowledge of the software in a fun and exciting way! Always the comedian, Terri uses this understanding to keep her training sessions humorous and informative.
What is your favorite part of working for Escape? — Going to a customer site to meet our customers. I like the face-to-face time. In webinars, customers get to hear me, but I don't get to see them. Seeing them is always good. We have such great customers!
Can you give us a quick play-by-play of your average work day? — Oh my, so, I work from a to-do list. The list is usually long and has stuff like: creating an invite, updating the next training doc, updating the release review, working on a video recording, attending one or more meetings, and preparing for any onsite training that is coming up. Sometimes, I handle support questions too.
What have been some of the highlights of your career? — Honestly, one of the highlights for me was when Ramona came on board and she moved me from support to training. She said it seemed like training came naturally to me. And, she is right. It's easy for me. It's really easy and fun for me. It is. Really.
What are your favorite activities or things to do when not working? — I enjoy playing with my grandkids and doing something that I have never done before. For instance, I just walked across the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time. Another favorite is the kids and I explore zoos in the Sacramento and San Francisco region. We like the Oakland Zoo the best!
Where are you from originally? — San Jose, but I grew up in South Carolina.
If you weren't the Escape System Trainer, what would you be? — I would be a nurse. I always wanted to be a nurse. I like the personal touch, and I know that a personal touch makes someone feel better.
What is your favorite food? — Bread. (Laughter.) Probably pasta pomodoro. Wait! No, pasta finocchietto e sarde — and not just any you get from a restaurant — my grandma's recipe.
What is your ringtone? — Drunk Smurfs.
If you could meet one person, who and why? — I always wanted to meet Mother Theresa. I love her heart. For such a small person, she made such a large impact and I admire that so much.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? — Kari, Sammy Hagar's wife. If you know me, you know what I mean.
