As a parent of two teenaged daughters, back-to-school week for me personally is about new opportunities, preparing for new challenges, and making new friendships. It is about meeting new people – teachers, coaches, administrators, and parents. It is a time of anticipation for something exciting and extraordinary, time to learn and absorb the new world around us. My job as a parent is to guide my children to be successful, to provide the nutrition, supplies, and help they need to excel, the space they need to study, and occasionally (as any parent of teenagers knows), the door they need to slam when they need time alone.
Our August Collaboration Day theme was ‘Preparing for the New School Year’ because we know that providing exciting opportunities to our children takes a lot of preparation and a ton of hard work. Our goal was to provide the support these amazing administrators need to kick-start their school year and to be ready to welcome our kiddos to their classrooms.
Thirty-five users attended the event. We had great discussions about tracking of KPI’s, LCAP, late hires, AP processes, training that COE’s provide for their districts, and so much more. We also introduced some of the new, upcoming features and gathered feedback on new enhancements. The HR/Pay Design session mostly revolved around regulatory changes (Janus ruling, AB 2052, AB 1487, PERS – Circular 200-048-18), and the Finance Design session mostly focused around Travel and Conference requisitions.
Our amazing facilitator was Dawn Heraty from Sutter County Superintendent of Schools, who volunteered to lead the discussions and did a great job! Thank you, Dawn and everybody else who attended Collaboration Day!
