Backpacks for Homeless Students in Placer County

In late July, Escape Technology heard that Placer County Office of Education was collecting backpacks to distribute before the start of school. A group at Escape sprang into action to order and collect backpacks.  In early August we were able to deliver a total of 72 backpacks to Placer COE – each one filled with different school essentials depending on grade level (pens, pencils, sharpeners, notebooks, etc.) for distribution.

While in years past, we provided students with backpacks at the beginning of the year, we discovered that Placer COE encounters homeless students throughout the year, as families fall into crisis. We provided these backpacks to Placer COE in the hope that they can help fill the gap for those families, keeping children engaged at school and smoothing a difficult transition.

Escape collected the backpacks at our offices.
