CASBO Northern Section Holiday Meeting, Lunch & Toy Drive
Margie Wells and I (Jennifer Escamilla aka JenE) were fortunate to attend CASBO’s Northern Section Annual Holiday Meeting, Luncheon & Toy Drive on December 8th. The luncheon was held at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, which is a beautiful venue. It’s not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon.
The keynote speaker this year was Nina Boyd, CASBO President. She discussed diversity and inclusion. One of the videos Nina showed was called Take a Seat, Make a Friend, where two strangers sat in a ball pit (the kind that kids play in at McDonald's) and discussed life’s big questions. It is a good reminder that on the surface we may not see the commonalities between us, but the deeper you dig the more common experiences and ideas we share. Without diving deep, you would never find the shared interests or experiences.
We also had the opportunity to meet up with our friends from Livermore Valley JUSD. Theirs was the lucky table during the raffle. I think they won half the prizes! They are currently in the implementation phase and will be going live on Escape Online in July 2018. Margie has been working closely with them on their data conversions, so was able to chat with them about HR/Pay Setup files that were being processed, as well as the upcoming Employee Management training at Alameda COE.
