Escape Basics University

We have received a lot of questions about who should go to Beyond Escape 2019. What about new users? What about experienced users? Our answer is YES! We have sessions for every level. For the last few weeks, we have been blogging about some more advanced sessions. Today, let’s talk about Escape Basics University.

As the name implies, this is an Escape University session, so it requires signup. The Sacramento sessions are about half full. There is plenty of room in Santa Barbara. Did you notice that the word used there was “sessions?” Yes, there is one on each day at each location!

Escape Basics University is an hour and fifteen minutes of everything you need to know to get moving in Escape Online. This is perfect for new users, basically anyone that has been using Escape Online for less than a year.

Terri Hammond, Escape Training Manager, and Yuka Daniel, Implementation Analyst, will bring on the laughs and the learning. Both Yuka and Terri are experts in Escape Online and have extensive school business experience. This Escape University session will give you the opportunity to ask questions about the software and discover how other users accomplish their jobs using Escape Online.

Benefit Management Round Table Is Selling Out Fast

The registrations for the Round Tables at the upcoming Beyond Escape User Conference are like a tidal wave! The Benefit Management Round Table is SOLD OUT in Sacramento and near sell out in Santa Barbara. This is not a surprise.

Benefit management is one of those areas in school business where every district has their own way of processing. Yes, the benefits and employees are the same but sometimes it is HR that handles it; sometimes it is Payroll that handles it. And, sometimes there is dedicated staff, just for benefits.

That is why benefit management is the PERFECT topic for a Round Table. The discussions are going to be epic, with each person sharing their style and surfing tricks. Jane Youngman, Escape Project Manager, and Tanya Karalets, Escape Business Analyst, are both subject matter experts when it comes to benefits. This is going to be an exciting event!

If you have not signed up for Round Tables yet, you will want to do so right away. Other Round Tables are nearing their maximums. There are links at the bottom of your confirmation email that will help you out. Here is a summary of what you need to do.

  1. Return to the registration site.

  2. Log into your account.

  3. Modify your registration.

Let's Talk About Seniority

The best resource for you is other people who do your same job! That’s why we are having Round Table Discussions at this year’s Beyond Escape User Conference. Round Tables give you the chance to pick the brains of the people who know your job best AND the people who know Escape Online the best.

On the HR/Payroll day, we are holding a Round Table Discussion about Seniority. It will be like sitting at the seashore, sipping wine and chatting with friends. Your favorite beach buddy - Carole Williams, Director of Customer Service at Escape - will lead the discussion. Carole is well versed in all elements of seniority. She has over 10 years of direct school business experience from two districts, and she has been the Project Manager on dozens of Escape implementations across the state.

If you want to know more about this versatile feature, you will want to go to this discussion! You will get to hear and share real-life scenarios on all of the different seniority methods (single, academic, hours, FTE). How do they work? Carole will moderate in-depth discussions about affecting seniority through assignments and addons.

Carole will also spend some time going over the various calculations, so you fully understand how each choice works.

The Perfect HR/Payroll Ride

Want to drop in on the perfect ride? Want to run HR/Payroll activities in Escape Online like a local? Then, the Perfect HR/Pay Workflow session is the one for you!

There is so much crossover in HR/Payroll users and features. This session aims to reduce the burns by explaining the lockout feature and other workflow functionality that will keep everyone cresting the waves.

Here are just some of the questions you will have answered by attending this session:

  • How does the Lockout feature work?

  • Who Does What – HR vs Payroll?

  • What to do with negative gross pay?

  • How do you mass change the bargaining unit (or job category or whatever) for a group of employees?

  • How does payroll know about changes made by HR and vice versa?

Even though this session is a general session, there will be some interactivity so you can learn from your colleagues how to have the perfect HR/Payroll workflow!
