Escapees Attend Human Resources Workshop

In early September, Escape team members from the HR/Payroll support department escaped over to the Yolo County Office of Education for an informative workshop on Human Resource Essentials. The workshop, organized by School Services of California, was a full day event covering a wide range of topics including Personnel Management, Labor Relations, how HR works with other departments, and the challenges of a Multi-Generational Workforce in an educational environment.

One of the major takeaways from the workshop was the importance of training and development, specifically mandated trainings.  Some of the training topics covered were:

  • Sexual Harassment

  • Prevention of Youth Suicide

  • Pesticide Training

  • Hazard Communication

  • Bloodborne Pathogen

Whether mandated by the state, County Office of Education, or an individual district, the number of mandated trainings an employee must complete on an annual or biennial basis seems to be increasing, which could be confusing for an HR person to keep track of them all. It was satisfying to note that Escape Online has the functionality to help our customers keep all of these trainings in order.

Not only does attending workshops such as these provide Escape support staff with ideas on how to make the software better, but they provide an opportunity to gain a better understanding of general HR concepts.  This enables Escape team members to see things more from a customer perspective, as well as how to best support customers in using the Escape software to meet responsibilities and overcome challenges.  It’s also a great way to interact with customers and experts in the industry.
