Friday Feature - Copying from a Direct Edit List

Here's a blast from the past! About 8 years ago, I wrote a Friday Feature about copying from the grid. Well, this week, Escapees (what we Escape Technology employees call ourselves) had a group conversation about copying from a direct edit list. And, guess what!?! It is very similar, so I thought I would share.

If you highlight a line on a direct edit list and press CTRL+C, the software is going to copy the ENTIRE LINE, which means that you can paste it into Excel and it will place all of the column information just so.

Put your cursor anywhere on a direct edit list. Or, highlight the whole line. Either way, CTRL+C will copy the entire line.

Paste into Microsoft Excel (or any program). The entire line will be pasted, with cells from the direct edit list, copying into individual cells on the spreadsheet.

Now, that's amazing. What a time saver!

But, what if you want to copy only a single cell, not the entire line? That's easy, too.

To copy a single cell on a direct edit list, highlight the text (or account number in this case) in the cell and then use your right mouse key for the drop-down menu and select copy.

To copy information in a cell, highlight the information and use the right-mouse button drop-down list to select copy.

Thanks to all my fellow Escapees for asking questions and collaborating!
