Solano COE "Escapes" to Roseville!

We were lucky enough to have a daylong training with Solano County Office of Education, at our headquarters here in Roseville.  Michelle Mallory, Business Information Systems Support Coordinator, and Shawndra Rentschler, Business Information Systems Support Specialist, made the drive up from Solano County to do a System Admin training.  Solano COE has been live on Escape Online for five years already!  Michelle has been there from the beginning and wanted to have a refresher on some higher level functionality, while Shawndra is relatively new to her role in support and wanted to get some personalized training.

During our training we went over lots of county, org and user setup records, as well as HR/Pay setup records. We then spent the afternoon delving into budgeting, focusing on salary and benefits.  Michelle said “Learning about the System Workflow and how HR/Payroll applies to Budget” was her biggest takeaway.  Shawndra was especially excited to learn about record archiving in Employee Management, she said “having worked in payroll, I know how those records add up over time.” There are system and org level settings that you can set to archive old records, for example, leaves that are over a certain number of months old. A major advantage of archiving is that Employee Management records load faster.  For more information about archiving, please see the Friday Feature Archiving Employee Information.

Escape Online software is constantly growing and changing; we discussed how you tend to get so focused on performing your tasks to get your job done and don’t always take the time to explore new functionality.  The release reviews and webinars are a great way to keep up on the latest enhancements and functionality.  To find the latest Release Review, click Online Resources on your activity tree and then select Release Information.

We always enjoy spending time with Michelle and Shawndra; our customers are one of the best parts of our jobs!

Solano COE Came to Visit Us!

Last month we were joined in the Escape offices by Solano COE’s Business Information Systems Support (BISS) team for a very productive day of finance setup training. Michelle Mallory, BISS Coordinator and Shawndra Rentschler, BISS Specialist worked with us on reviewing their finance setup and processes. Everyone learned a lot about these topics and how they can be best utilized to support their districts.

We look forward to seeing them again soon for HR/Payroll setup training!

2018 CASBO Holiday Luncheon & Workshop

Did you attend the 2018 CASBO Sacramento Section Holiday Luncheon and Workshop? We did, too. What an amazing event! As always, we are grateful for a wonderful opportunity to visit with customers and share in the festivities of the day.

As we walked down the stairs to enter the ballroom, our ears were delighted by Singers and Tintinnabulist Handbell Ringers from Will C. Wood High School (Vacaville), performing wonderful holiday classics. After the opening remarks, Danielle McGarrity, Charitable Giving Officer, from the Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home told a moving first-hand account of how donations to the Home really make a difference in children’s lives. This organization assists children and youth by providing shelter, food and resources to those affected by abuse, neglect, behavioral health issues and trauma.

This was the first year Escape Technology contributed as a Gold Tier sponsor for the event. We are thankful for CASBO hosting this annual event that affords us the opportunity to reflect on the year, network with colleagues and continue to grow.

Jannelle Kubinec provided a wonderful and witty workshop as the keynote speaker discussing Trust Leadership. Her insight to the topic left the audience with inspiration to self-reflect and move through to the New Year with an open mind, trust to motivate those around us regardless of our stance in the organizational ladder, and many laughs from her countless anecdotes.

All of us at Escape Technology wish you a wonderful and safe holiday season. Thank you for being the best customers and we look forward to seeing you at future events in 2019!

Solano COE is in the House

Our customers are always coming up with NEW training ideas and my friends from Solano County Office of Education came up with this idea and I have to share it! Once we booked their site visit, they sent me a list of random questions from Budgeting to Year End to Payroll reports to Stores. They had sent out a poll to their district users and asked for training topics that they would be willing to drive to Roseville to get answered. The list was long but really awesome!

The users came and Escape delivered! It was a packed house with Escapees on hand to answer all the questions and because we thought this was such an awesome idea, we bought lunch!

What a great idea, schedule a training at Escape corporate office! It's less expensive and it gets the users out of the office with fewer distractions and they get all their questions answered. I loved how excited the districts were for this opportunity given to them by their County Office and how they left Roseville feeling enlightened.

If your organization might be interested in this type of impromptu training, send me an email and let’s see what we can come up with together.
