The LCAP and So Much More

One of the things I love about Escape Technology is their commitment to education. I had the privilege of attending the Accountability in California - LCAP and So Much More training at Santa Clara County Office of Education given by School Services of California Inc. I’m so glad I went! What an informative training!

I’m often asked about the best way to report the Local Control Accountability Plan during a budget or SACS accounting training in Escape Online 5. This was such a good workshop given by Brianna Garcia, Director, Management Consulting Services; Matt Phillips, CPA, Director, Management Consulting Services; and Suzanne Speck, Vice President.

This workshop walked us through the LCAP requirements for districts and charter schools. We learned about who the stakeholders are and how to engage them. I had no idea there was so much input from teachers, principals, school personnel, students, bargaining units, and parents for a 3 year LCAP. I was surprised to know that the LCAP has to be adopted by the school board before the original budget can be adopted. The approval process is just like approving the budget, which makes sense because the LCAP needs to be funded by the budget.

At Escape Technology, we are working on several software changes to help track expense categories in the Finance and HR modules. Be sure to keep your eyes on our blog for updates on these changes!
