Several times a year we hold a Collaboration Day. Collaboration Day is a free Escape-sponsored event that provides an opportunity for customers to connect with each other, share best practices, and solicit feedback from each other. Escape provides the space and expertise needed for collaboration and the customers facilitate and drive the discussion. Below are summaries of the last two Collaboration Days.
August 2018 Preparing for the New School Year
Our August Collaboration Day theme was ‘Preparing for the New School Year’ because we know that providing exciting opportunities to our children takes a lot of preparation and a ton of hard work. Our goal was to provide the support these amazing administrators need to kick-start their school year and to be ready to welcome our children to their classrooms.
We had great discussions about tracking of KPI’s, LCAP, late hires, AP processes, training that COE’s provide for their districts, and much more. We also introduced some of the new, upcoming features and gathered feedback on new enhancements. The HR/Pay Design session revolved around regulatory changes (Janus ruling, AB 2052, AB 1487, PERS – Circular 200-048-18), and the Finance Design session mostly focused around Travel and Conference requisitions.
This time our facilitator was Dawn Heraty from Sutter County Superintendent of Schools, who volunteered to lead the discussions.
May 2018 Payroll Corrections
Participants spent the morning discussing payroll corrections and best practices to minimize errors. One of the morning discussions was centered around PERS and STRS test file submissions, which ensures an almost error-free final file submission. Janell Morris of San Joaquin COE shared some recommendations with the group, which were posted in our follow-up blog. The afternoon was packed with HR/Pay and Finance Design sessions and we wrapped up the day with a sneak peek of the new design of Online Timesheets.
Winter 2018 Employee Online Portal & Tax Documents
We started the year out with some timely topics, like 1099 and W2 corrections. We also discussed areas of interest from the User Conference in October. So, the HR/Payroll team lead a brainstorming session on the Employee Online Portal, and the Finance team lead one on Travel and Conference requisitions.
