Ali is responsible for the direction of Escape, combining a unique and forward-looking vision. He began his career at Amdahl corporation, a mainframe computer company, where he spent 17 years rising from an Engineer to President of the Server and Storage division. He also headed SourceForge and Zetta, both technology companies. Ali is passionate about setting goals, achieving business results, being part of a team and working with bright people on a daily basis. In his free time, Ali enjoys spending time with his family, wife and two sons.
Ramona is responsible for managing the daily operations of Escape and overseeing all departments. She joined Escape in September 2007 after working as a Sr. Program Manager for 10 years in the cable and telecommunications industry. Ramona holds a Master’s of Science degree, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Advanced Project Management Certification from Stanford University. In her free time, Ramona enjoys running, cycling and spending time with her family.
Erika leads the core financial processes of Escape and is responsible for implementing the company’s financial systems and strategy. Erika was most recently the VP and Corporate Controller of Ooyala Inc. where she played a lead role in the post-merger operational integration following the company’s $500M sale to Telstra. Prior to this, she was the Corporate Controller of Medallia Inc, where she led the accounting team through a period of substantial revenue growth and global footprint expansion.
Erika is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA from Santa Clara University, and a Diploma in Leadership and Management from Stanford University. In her free time, Erika enjoys reading, exercising and spending time with friends and family.
John is responsible for overseeing both the development of Escape’s software products as well as the Escape technology support team. John joined Escape in February 2018 after working for over 10 years as Vice President and CTO at a nationwide mortgage lender where he lead the development of multiple software products. Prior to that, John held leadership roles at other software and technology consulting companies. John holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University as well as a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. In his free time John enjoys running, hiking, snow-skiing and spending time with his family.
Chad is responsible for programming, research and design for the HR/Payroll team, database development and portal design. Chad worked at System Integrators prior to Escape. Chad is one of those rare programmers who is not only a "great coder," but can hold pleasant and productive conversations with users of any expertise. Chad has been with Escape since 1989.
Charlie is responsible for Escape’s business development efforts, including the management of its partnerships. Prior to joining Escape, he worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in equity research and equity capital markets, where he helped buy-side clients evaluate publicly-traded companies in the payments and consumer finance sectors and advised corporate clients on raising capital through public equity offerings. Charlie holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He’s driven by creating unforgettable customer experiences and working with talented people who inspire him to think differently. He spends his free time exploring the outdoors while biking, running, and surfing with his wife Becca.
Amanda is responsible for Escape’s corporate development efforts, including mergers and acquisitions. She began her career at Morgan Stanley, where she worked with investors to evaluate commodity-related transactions. She also managed the sensor and custom silicon portfolios at Apple and founded a technology startup. Amanda is passionate about being part of a great team, building innovative products, and learning from a diverse group of people. In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors, cycling, and cheering on the local sports teams with her husband.
Carole joined Team Escape in 1994, after 10 years of working at two different Sacramento area school districts, and implementing Escape Classic at one of them. Since joining Escape, she has worked with customers to implement the software. Now she is directing customer care, and enjoying working in the office with the team. She holds a BS in Agricultural and Managerial Economics from UC Davis. Carole enjoys spending time with her kids and grandkids, any beach, riding motorcycles with her husband and getting together with friends and extended family. If she is not doing any of the above, she is reading!
Leslie arrived at Escape in July 2000 with over 15 years of experience in the software industry, bringing with her a background that includes both technical writing and design. She is our technical writer, focusing on developing documentation, writing the Friday Feature, and managing our blog and marketing materials. Leslie has a BA in English and a Technical Writing Certificate from CSU, Chico and a Masters in English Composition from CSU, Sacramento. Leslie loves reading, writing and spending time with family and friends.
Randy Ballard joined Team Escape in the summer of 2015 as Escape Online's Release Manager. Randy comes with years of experience with project management and development. He is a certified Product Management Professional and a ScrumMaster (CSM). With a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, earned from Auburn University, Randy's educational and professional background is a perfect fit for our new direction of Agile software development.
Kathleen Bouillon joined Escape in September 2017 as an Executive Assistant. She was previously employed by a broadband cable and satellite company, where she provided 13 years of project analyst and administrative support. Kathleen also has a B.S. in Business Administration.
Melanie joined Escape in May 2017. She worked at a local school district for 7 years as a web developer in the Technology Services department. During that time she had the opportunity to learn many of the ins and outs of school business and the important part that technology plays in smoothing some of those rough edges. Melanie enjoys the welcoming and friendly environment of Escape and really appreciates the high regard in which Escape holds their customers and family.
Roxane joined Escape in the beginning of 2016 as frontline Finance support. Roxane brings to the team over fifteen years of experience in the implementation and support of complex software applications in both the public and private sectors, with an emphasis in Financial and HR systems. In her free time, Roxane is an avid reader, enjoys hiking, practicing hot yoga, and spending time with her family.
Kathy joined Escape in the summer of 2002. While Kathy began in customer support, she now works with customers implementing Escape software. She comes to us from Shasta Union High where she worked for five years, including the implementation of Escape! Her understanding of district policies and knowledge of Escape has given her a big jump-start, and provided Team Escape with more on-the-job school business experience.
Tim arrived at Escape in August 2016 as frontline HR/Payroll support. Tim, a recent graduate from Colorado State University holds a B.S. degree in Information Technology. Tim is a proud husband and father of four, and he enjoys outdoor sports, particularly backpacking and rock climbing.
Ken developed our Escape-Personnel/Position Control system. Ken also redeveloped SSC/Escape MYP as a Windows version: MYP 4.0 for Windows. Ken is a senior developer in our HR group. Ken has over 20 years of programming experience. Prior to joining Escape in 1993, he was the third employee of a software/hardware company that eventually reached $50+ million in sales, and was an integral part of the systems development there.
Diana joined Team Escape at the beginning of 2018 supporting HR/Payroll customers. She earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from CalPoly, San Luis Obispo, and spent 5 years honing her problem-solving skills working as an engineer at Aerojet Rocketdyne. During her free time, Diana enjoys hiking, taking her dogs for long walks along the American River, and attending comic conventions.
Susan began working at Escape in customer support in April 1997. Currently, Susan is the developer responsible for all of the beautiful reports. Previously, she was an independent consultant for 15 years. One of her most important clients was Marysville USD, supporting their minicomputer-based financial and payroll system. During this period, she became an expert in school finance and payroll.
Jennifer (also known as JenE) joined Escape in 2001 as one of our customer service representatives for Personnel/Payroll. In 2008, she began managing Escape Customer Care. While her specialty was on the HR/Pay side, managing both sides of the software allowed her to learn a lot about Finance. Now she is the Escape Product Manager, managing CRs (Change Requests) and the release cycle. Her position includes reviewing the specs, assigning a release version, creating efficiencies by grouping similar CRs, coordinating large changes, managing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and working with Escape Customer Care to gather customer feedback. Jennifer's background is in the software industry, providing support and training for multiple applications including payroll.
Robin signed up with Escape in 1998. After being in the Customer Care position for all that time (with a two-year hiatus somewhere in the middle) she has now moved into a new position: she tests the Finance side of the software before it goes out the door to our customers. Robin says she’s worked here for so long that she can’t really even remember what she did before she came here (it was MIS Supervisor at a bank – but don’t ask her any questions relating to Multiple Information Systems because the technology has changed slightly in the last few decades).
Stephanie manages the Technical Support team. She joined Escape as the QA Coordinator in September 2007 with 10 years of experience in software quality assurance and customer service. Steph has a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Chico State. She enjoys family trips, wine tasting, cooking and spending time with friends.
Vijay joined Escape in the summer of 2014 with an M.S. in Computer Science from Chico State, where he tutored and graduated with one of the highest GPAs in the Computer Science class. He is an important member of the portal team. Previously, he earned his B.E. in Computer Engineering and worked at SPRY Resources India Pvt. Ltd, providing e-governance software to the Government of Goa, India. In his spare time, Vijay likes to sketch and paint. He also loves watching and playing cricket, with time left over for soccer, table-tennis, biking and hiking. Vijay says that he owes all his success to his family and close friends.
Ginny joined Escape in January 2013, coming to us from the Business Office of a local school district that uses Escape Online 5. A graduate of UC Davis, Ginny also worked at a California COE. She is creative and likes working with her hands, well versed at using a paintbrush, a skill saw and a nail gun. She enjoys camping (roughing it in a tent!) every summer with her family.
Stephanie joined Team Escape in January 2018 as a software support analyst for our HR/Payroll team. Before coming to Escape she worked as a support representative for a national real estate software company. She holds a BS in Computer Science from CSU Chico. Stephanie has always been passionate about helping people and making the user’s experience pleasant. In the future, her goal is to combine her passions with her degree to help develop software that is both productive and user-friendly. To keep her work life in balance she enjoys kayaking, concerts, baking, and cuddling with her Welsh terrier.
Kirk joined Escape in April of 2018 as a designer of User Experience and User Interface. He holds a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Prior to joining Escape Kirk designed software interfaces at a nationwide mortgage lender and Xerox.
Terri has 12 years school district experience, working in the business office of two Bay Area school districts. Since joining Escape in October 1998, Terri has worked in both Finance and HR/Payroll. Terri also is a certified trainer (Training Magazine Certification Program). As Escape's System Trainer, Terri loves to share knowledge of the software in a fun and exciting way! As a past school district employee, she really understands the needs of a district and knows the workflows. Always the comedian, Terri uses this understanding to keep her trainings humorous and informative. As Terri says, "When you love what you do, you'll do a good job and I love what I do!"
Tanya joined Escape in the spring of 2015 as frontline support for HR/Payroll. Now, she is an HR/Payroll Business Analyst. With a background in IS and economics and hands-on experience with HR/Payroll in the private sector, she is working on change request specifications for the HR/Payroll team. Tanya loves dogs and traveling!
Dayna began working at Escape in December of 2006. In addition to managing the Escape Team payroll and HR functions, Dayna is also a project analyst. Previously, she was an independent contractor for over 15 years, specializing in bookkeeping and accounting services. She enjoys the friendly environment of Escape.
Jennifer (aka JR) started with Escape in the summer of 2007. JR develops interfaces and HR/Payroll procedures. She has over 12 years of experience in customer management and billing software for the cable and communications industry. Her resume includes seven years in business intelligence, developing data warehouses and reports for analysis and forecasting; and numerous years in international support, working with customers ranging from South America, Europe and Asia. She loves to travel to new places and learn about the history of the area. Her hobbies include gardening, wine tasting and hiking.
Patrick joined Team Escape in May 2013 as a Data Technician, working on customer conversions of data and UI changes in Escape Online, but he quickly moved to the development team. Patrick develops interfaces and works with Tom on HRAs. Patrick has been working in the Technology field, specifically in Network & System Administration, Application Development, and Business Operations. He has spent the last 10 years working in various capacities for a National Staffing Agency that provided employee leasing and HR/Payroll outsourcing. An avid outdoorsman, Patrick is a certified open water diver, even using his rescue diver training once. He also rides motorcycles and loves to travel. His wedding was a fun-filled adventure too, with a wedding website, voting, videos, and a broadcast of the ceremony (performed by Elvis) live on the internet.
Michael joined Escape in August of 1999 to assist in the technical administration of Escape's computer network. Now he is our system administrator. Michael keeps all of our systems running and is a fantastic resource for our customers. Prior to Escape, Michael worked as a consultant for a computer company, and with Pacific Bell.
Elen joined the Escape Customer Care team in the summer of 2007. Now, she manages the HR/Payroll team. Previously, she worked for leading commercial general contracting firms where she managed all aspects of accounting and payroll/HR administration. Her nine years in the industry gave her extensive exposure to public sector clients. She holds a BS in Business Administration and HR Management.
Jesse joined Team Escape in April of 2018. She has a background in California school business, having previously coordinated business services at two local charter schools with unique processes and needs. She earned her BS in Computer Information Systems at Regis University with highest honors. Jesse enjoys writing, cooking, spending time with family, and her parrots.
Chris joined Team Escape in October 2016. Originally from Los Angeles, Chris graduated with honors from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Over his 30+ year career, Chris has worn many hats in all areas of software development, including developing solutions and managing high performing teams at aerospace and school financial software companies. Before getting into software, Chris made ice cream at Swensen’s and was a campus police dispatcher. Chris currently develops user front-end functionality for Finance. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, table tennis, walking, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
John joined Escape in the beginning of 2010 as technical support. Now he is working in development as a data technician. John is excited to continue his career at Escape after six years of experience as an EDI/ERP software implementation specialist. He received his MBA and B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in MIS from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. John enjoys riding motorcycles, playing bass in an alt. country rock band, and loves spending time with family and friends.
Cris joined Escape in April 2018 as frontline HR/Payroll support after spending several years as a Data Analyst for a non-profit organization, which focused on organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Over the course of his 20-year career in the IT industry, Cris has honed his problem-solving and customer service skills in various positions ranging from technical support to data analysis and implementation. Cris enjoys spending time with his two daughters, and has a deep passion for hockey, movies, most things pop culture-related, and especially, symphonic metal music.
Lisa returned to Team Escape in 2017 after a hiatus. She currently manages Escape’s social media presence and blog, creates our marketing materials and plans our annual user conference. She has over two decades of experience in the software industry, including writing documentation, handling customer support and at a school district, providing training. Lisa spent eight years as the Spanish Food expert and community manager on About.com (now theSpruce.com), which was perfect for her, since she is a “foodie.” Lisa also holds a Master degree in International Business, and enjoys travelling and hiking.
Arin joined Team Escape late in 2009, working as a Finance Customer Care team member, then moving to HR/Pay, where she became the subject matter expert on all things budget. Now, she is back in Finance, managing the team. Since early childhood, she had special love for “working with numbers on a computer.” Her background is in economics, business, and education. Arin enjoys baking and cooking Mediterranean food. One of her dreams is to have a road trip from the West to the East on Highway 80.
Jennifer (aka Jen*) joined the team in June of 2008 as frontline HR/Payroll support. Now she has moved into the testing position for HR/Payroll. Prior to coming to Escape, she worked for 11 years in the broadband cable and telecommunications division of an international company as the technical lead on implementations and custom development projects. Jennifer is excited to take what she learned about the HR/Payroll side of the software and apply it to the challenges the testing world will provide. She has always liked digging in and getting down to the nuts and bolts of things.
Lora joined Escape in 2012 as frontline HR/Payroll support. Prior to working at Escape, she worked at a County Office of Education in Credentialing and Human Resources. During her time with the COE, she was heavily involved with the implementation of Escape. Lora is excited to be a part of Team Escape.
Philip started working with Escape in June 2008 as a developer. He had served as engineer of software development for School Services of California for 14 years. With 15 years of software development experience, he has developed software, which is widely used throughout California school districts. He is also an expert in various California K-12 school financial, staffing, performance, and student demographics databases. Born in Hong Kong, he graduated from California State University, Sacramento, where he earned a MS in Computer Science and an Honorary BA in Sociology with double minors in Computer Science and Psychology. He enjoys playing badminton and spending time with friends and family.
Robyn joined Team Escape at the end of 2014 as frontline HR/Payroll support. Prior to working at Escape, she worked in corporate accounting where she did all aspects of accounting and payroll, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and month end closing using Microsoft Dynamics and Ascentis. Prior to that, she implemented payroll software throughout the United States. Robyn enjoys spending time with her family (husband and two boys), travelling, watching movies, and baking. She enjoys unique opportunities (at least once).
Jane joined Escape in January 2017 as part of the Implementation Team. Jane comes to us as the previous CBO in a high school district. She has worked exclusively in school business since 1998. Well-versed in multiple aspects of school business, including both District and County Office experience, Jane completed the USC School Business Management Program in 2012 and is CASBO CBO Certified. In her free time, Jane enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, boating, snow skiing, or just about anything on the lake or outdoors.
Prior to joining Escape, Margie gained 20 years of experience in software quality assurance, training, implementations, and customer relationship support. She excels in infusing fun into solving problems to create a solution that sometimes can only exist outside of the box. She was also a local high school football coach, which provided insight into the school business environment. In her free time, Margie enjoys yoga and pilates, kayaking, football, spending quality time with friends and going to the movies during awards season.
