Escape Technology began in 1985 with a clear focus on the business departments of education organizations. During the 1990s, we produced a collection of modules for school business departments, such as purchasing, fixed assets, work orders, etc.

We went on to successfully create an integrated finance, human resource and payroll system for California school districts. Before 2000, we had implemented 200 modules in districts of all sizes.

In the early 2000s, we built a brand new system for County Offices of Education, utilizing Microsoft’s .Net and SQL Server as the database. In 2007, Placer COE and their 18 districts went live on Escape Online. Since that first implementation, we have improved performance, introducing new features and worked closely with our customers through focus groups, conferences and collaboration days.

In the past five years, major functionality has been released, including the Employee Online Portal, shopping cart technology and Human Resource Authorizations (HRAs).

In 2017, we became #1 in California with 21 COEs live on Escape Online, and we continued to grow. Today, hundreds of organizations across three states are live on Escape Online, with more organizations going live throughout the year!
